Resort Overview
Chamonix needs little introduction, most people have heard of this wonderful historical town, known for its amazing views of the Mont Blanc and Aiguille du Midi range. The centre of Chamonix is car free so wandering around its cobbled streets gazing at the mountains and also the beautiful old buildings is easy. For non skiers a day in town exploring and shopping is a must and maybe stop for a coffee or lunch in one of the many cafés and restaurants. If after skiing or those not skiing want to take in a spa then look no further than the QC Terme spa area, with its saunas, steam room Whirlpool’s and infinity pool. In late afternoon and at night Chamonix comes alive with a lively aprés scene. For dinner the range is varied from very high end to nice simple French fare.
The ski areas of Chamonix are a little disjoined, you need to decide which area that day you wish to ski as the connections are by bus so not ideal if wanting to ski more than one area per day. If you are an off piste junkie and want to take a guide out then this resort is for you. Ski the famous Vallee Blanche, all 22 kms of it, with a guide its a great day out but you do need to be a confident skier. Maybe not the best ski area if you are a beginner, though there are a few dedicated beginner areas but for intermediate’s and advanced skiers theres enough here to keep you happy.
